It would surely pain him to be reminded of his AIG tout. My subscription was up last summer and his AIG tout was probably one of the deciding factors for me in non-renewing Grant's. I enjoyed reading his macro views, which as you say are excellent. But I don't need to pay $800 (or whatever the relatively high cost is) for macro views I already know, understand, and can read for free elsewhere. I thought Grant's stock picks were terrible and weren't congruent with his macro thoughts, which is why I ended up dropping it.
