So then why didn't the Dems use the filibuster as extensively during the 6 years from 2001-7 when the GOP held majorities in both houses and had a GOP President? The Dems consider the Bush administration and GOP to be very far right and out of touch with the American people. Judging by the recent elections and polls, they are correct. I think the GOP will find that a policy of obstructionism will make them about as popular as it made "Do Nothing Daschle". Only policies that offer alternatives are ones the public responds to. SO far, the GOP has been devoid of real ideas other than "lets cut taxes some more".

The problem I see now is that the Left is turning out to be just as prone to abuse of power as the Right was during the Bush administration. Once again, this is crystal clear evidence that our system of government which has produce two very polar, highly extreme parties, is destroying what is good in this country.

Some how we need to find a way to introduce a party of centrists that has national reach. The fluctuations to the far right and then now to the far left are killing us.

I've seen this before. I've been brought in to manage dysfunctional teams before and to turn them around. This is exactly what it looks like. Everyone trying to bring each other down, instead of everyone focused on the problem and coming up with solutions. Our government now is filled with children bickering and pointing fingers. There isn't enough honor left among our leaders to not only wish Obama well, but to actively help him succeed. We are our own worst enemy in this country.
