Don't even bother showing up for Monday's broadcast. Or show up and do the worst of the bunch. You're fine. But woe betide any healthy person who bothers to show up boring. Such was the fate of Go-Gos singer Belinda Carlisle, who was laid off from "Dancing with the Stars" Tuesday night. She had the double whammy of being a bit wooden (like Priscilla Presley) and having a rather tame partner in pro dancer Jonathan Roberts. No disrespect to either of them, but they just weren't showstoppers. Steve "The Woz" Wozniak, on the other hand, is fun. He's a chipper little Telletubby and his partner, Karina Smirnoff, is a foxy little thing engaged to Maksim Chermkovskiy, the bad boy of DWTS. After two weeks of dancing, The Woz and Karina had a combined score of 30 out of 60. That's very bad. The worst of the 13 dance pairs. But they made it through the first elimination round on Tuesday. "Jackass" star Steve-O and his partner, former "So You Think You Can Dance" contestant Lacey Schwimmer, got a combined 31, even after he didn't show up for Monday's dance show due to an injury. They also made it through on Tuesday. Belinda & Jonathan had a combined score of 35, which really isn't that bad. But they didn't last. This week was the debut of the dance-off, with the bottom two couples from the combined judges' scores and audience votes -- Belinda & Jonathan, The Woz & Karina -- dancing for their lives. Their original scores for the dance they chose were thrown out. Belinda & Jonathan chose to redo their week 2 salsa. Their new score was 17, combined total, 34. Steve and Karina chose to redo their week 2 quick step. Their new score was 17, combined total, 30, the same as the original. So it didn't really do any good, since even retaining a higher combined score, Belinda was eliminated. And why would we want to keep watching the worst dances of the night? It's clear the viewers didn't vote enough for Belinda. I feel for her, but such is the fate of the under-entertaining. (Believe me, I'd be voted off first too.) Take a note from Crazy Cloris Leachman. She couldn't dance a lick, but never missed a show from the injury curse and certainly never came closing to falling victim to the boring curse.
