Oh, I don't think that there is any doubt that the Fed was pushing on a string.

The goal of lowered Fed Funds is to stimulate lending --- and by all measures lending has fallen off a cliff.

Money supply is down (because V is seriously down).

Now... that does not tell us where M1 or M2 or V will be in a year, or in two years, but from last Fall through *right now* they are DOWN BIG.
