Absolutely. I was talking about this stuff to my father-in-law the other day, and my mother in law said, "I'm getting scared..." so I stopped, and blissful ignorance returned. My father-in-law though was pretty much right when he said, "What can I do?" There are millions like him, retired, getting pensions or SS, who will simply try to hang on. They are old, and they are tired, and they no of no other way (or possibility). He could store up some dry goods though, and a few elements of preparation like that. But beyond that, crossing his fingers I guess.
