LONDON — Leading foundry chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has said that is will end short-time working and unpaid leave for workers with effect from April 1, according to online reports.
TSMC (Hsinchu, Taiwan) began putting workers on 4-day weeks with reduced pay in December, according to the reports, as its manufacturing capacity utilization was thought to have hit historic lows. The company has decided to cancel the program due to "rush orders" the reports said.

TSMC raised its guidance for the first quarter on March 10 citing orders from mainland China and the strength of the U.S. dollar. "As the fundamentals of the economy are not significantly improved, we should remain cautious," one report quoted TSMC as saying.
