Right. Yes. Bush Sr and Reagan were good Presidents and oil prices were coming down during their administrations. They hit all time lows during the Clinton years and as a result we benefited from the Peace Dividend that all three Presidents worked towards. It was a good time for Democracy and the economy. Then we went to war and decided to pay for it all by ourselves and oil prices skyrocketed. Then Chavez and Putin came to power on the back of oil and the power and money they spread around using their oil wealth. Democracy has been rolled back in Latin America and terrorism is a pervasive threat. Oil is corrupting and it is the enemy of Democracy.
