Yes, this is what everyone complains about -- but in reality, it is a very difficult problem to overcome and it will likely be many, many years -- decades, perhaps -- before it is addressed.

Since the resolution to it requires maintaining a centralized database and adequate protection of the patient's medical records is extremely difficult, probably impossible, under those circumstances, I don't know of anyone who is even THINKING about this at this point.

Kind of an in-between approach would involve a pcp making a referral to a specialist and just transferring the patient demographics to the specialist's system. There are a ton of problems even with that, though.

I think it is all a long way off, personally.
