Perhaps it was intentional to so completely screw up the system that the whole government might have to be scrapped, including SS, Medicare, the tax system, etc. The military-industrial complex and the WS mafia got everything they wanted during the 'crisis' before the real crisis...

Bush's luck is that he came into a relatively good (at least pretty benign) situation. People were fat and happy, the economy while bubblicious was doing quite well, we weren't fighting anyone seriously, etc.

Obama's really good luck was that he was elected because things were so bad and his really back luck was that he was elected because things were so bad. It's a tough gig starting with everything in a huge mess as it is.

Obama doesn't have the luxury of making many mistakes when things are this much on the edge.
