We're not that far apart on this one, either.

My desire to see AIG simply fail might not be very pragmatic, and I realize that. I'm not a complete advocate for doing nothing, either, but I always maintain that doing nothing is still a viable option.

The reason why I take a seemingly wishy-washy stance is not to be cryptic and inscrutable. Instead, it is to point out that there are like a thousand ways "doing something" can be worse than doing nothing, and only a handful of ways that "doing something" will actually turn out to be better.

Bottom line: If we're going to do something, let's do it RIGHT. Or don't do it at all. If our elected and appointed officials can't seem to do anything right, then doing nothing starts to look better and better every day.
