Only because of legacy payments. In terms of payment in the here and now, not really. This, of course, is a bogus argument -- since "legacy" payments are as much a part of compensation as the "here and now" payments. If current employees are not receiving entitlements to future legacy payments, that would be something. But AFAIK, they are still accruing such benefits so the fact that they are just due somewhere down the road doesn't change the fact that they're a drain on corporate resources.
