But what if what's behind the dike is burning your finger off? It is... but this is unprecedented and the devil is in the details. It has to work both economically and politically. What they are trying to do in simple terms is repair the confidence to lend to low and middle income folks, who have proven to not be creditworthy in a declining asset market. And small business which, if things continue on course, will probably go bankrupt. It they are unsuccessful then it will take a generation to clean up these individuals balance sheets while we are a deep recession or worse. There are no good choices... no one thing is going to save us.
