Patent litigation
<<Cymer has responded by contracting with Seiko Instruments to manufacture its lasers in Japan, but Komatsu has threatened a patent suit against Seiko.>>

I haven't heard about this before. Can someone summarize the dispute, or point me to a place where I can read more about the details of this? And a question: why is the suit being brought in Japan, and only now? If there is infringement, wouldn't Cymer have been infringing all along, and wouldn't Komatsu have brought suit here in the U.S. before this?

Re NYT "A Laser Maker Tries to Avoid the Beams"

Timely article positive in tone, though somewhat light in content.

Nevertheless, a major article in the NYT Business Section certainly tends to put the analysts on the spot for their hasty downgrades.

Re Ficklestar's comments in Barron's...while not a plus for CYMI, it's by no means a Barron's barbecue. They give one of their senior writers (i.e. Alpert or Abelson) the honor of torching a company.
