There are some bright spots here and there so far this year. However, cash appreciation/depreciation should always be counted after taxes. In addition, that is so far, and it is quite important in the soon future, imo. For me, Ag did a 20.46% so far this year.

Paper is good so long as it is liquid. Still, I prefer hard assets for a few years down the road if things do not got so whacky that papers have to be altered, one way or the other, or discarded.

E. Europeans+Russians not seasoned in the tricks of fleecing. Thus easy prey. Same goes for Asians 1997-98. But Asians have smarted up.
