Most frightening about Obama is that too many people have made him a demigod. If there were a serious cult of personality around Obama, we should be seeing his "Red Guard" attacking the reactionary enemies of The One. I don't see the signs of the this. Until I do, I will think that the hope&faith in The One was just excessive campaign enthusiasm, whipped up by progressives long out of office and a media out to "make history". If I'm right (I devoutly hope I am) then we will see Obama transformed into an ordinary pol, about whom Jay Leno can make jokes. I think Obama helped the process along by appearing on The Tonight Show. Leno isn't in the habit of treating his guests like demigods.
