It isn't often that I think Ayatollah Khamenei has a good point. US policy towards Iran has not changed materially, so why should he be impressed?

Obama's New Year's greeting might not be a bad thing. The Iranian government doesn't like New Years very much because it's a pre-Islamic holiday, so the people make a big deal of it these days. It might be taken as a gesture to the people, not the government. I hope so.
