< What a mess. That it is, MM!! And looks like some of the Dems are starting to understand that too...I just read a couple of JohnM's thoughts earlier on Center re evidently Geithner has come forward with a PLAN tonight, and some of the Dems are despondent over it. I haven't seen it as yet, but probably, so will the Repubs be unhappy with it as well. Try as they will to blame Bush for everything, the thinking ones may still do that, BUT they will also have read the 1999 NYT article I referenced earlier, and also that in 1977 it was "Their Buddy, Their Pal" Jimmy Carter who signed the CRA, so they will know that WE know they aren't serious people. There is a whole lot of 'splaining between then and now. Maybe the Repubs will put together a time line of what happened in the past, and when, but most important WHY....PLUS the Repubs need to have their own plan well thought out, and everyone on the same page. FOX just had Ann Coulter and Kristen Powers (Dem side), Geraldo (admitedly pro Obama as well)...discussing the events of the week. Geraldo continued trying to toss little bombs in...but actually IMO both ladies agreed more than they disagreed. This entire situation is serious, is depleting our retirement funds drastically right now, will hinder our kids and grandkids immensely in the future, and our Government seems to be going off like fireworks without a care in the world. Ann said (I paraphrase) that can any one imagine, (when the Dems themselves have said this is like Pearl Harbor,) seeing FDR at a Fireside Chat right after Pearl Harbor, saying: "And YES, we're going to continue to work on all these other things that I want to happen for the country," and totally forgetting to say much of anything about how he/they would solve the War that just started....???? Ann couldn't, and certainly Kirsten couldn't....so Ann said, rightly so that Obama's job right now, is threefold: 1) Fix the Economy 2) Fix the Economy and 3) Fix the Economy. KLP says it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if our Companies don't feel secure, don't know what their tax liabilities will be for the next decade, don't know how many people they can afford to hire, etc etc...people WILL NOT be able to find jobs. Private industry MAKES jobs and hires and PAYS people. Government makes them up and all of us pay for those jobs with our taxes.
