Doesn't that seem like an oxymoron to you? A fuel-efficient muscle car?

I'm amazed at what can be done today.

In the late 60s I had occasion to drive a 426 Hemi a few times. It was rated at 425 HP, but you would not get 8mpg if you were really giving it the gas.

Today, the 4.5 Liter Infiniti engine cranks out nearly that (390+, I think) -- on 18-20mpg.

It's getting 25 MPG now, which from what I understand, isn't too bad for a muscle car.

What a strange comment. Are you trying to make this improvement into something bad?

So? The point is to take the cars that people want to buy and make them more fuel-efficient so we use less oil. It doesn't matter whether they're buying them for that reason.
