then socializing retirement with SS is bad too

That is correct.

socializing unemployment with so called unemployment insurance is equally bad.

Actually unemployment insurance is a way of unsocializing it. However, I don't think insurance companies were interested at the time, but if they are now interested then I am all for giving up Federal and State paid unemployment and simply alow the insurance companies to take it over.

And what about the Socialist Army, Navy, Marines and AirForce? Come on Hugh--dont go INODE on us.

These were never part of industry, and cannot be managed industry, and so cannot be anything but funded by the goverment. Socialism is only industry owned by the government, the military was never an industry.

>> then socializing retirement with SS is bad too

Do you not realize that SS and Medicare are the biggest economic problems facing our country? Everyone (including me) is worried about a few trillion we're having to spend now, but that is NOTHING compared with the $50 Trillion we owe these programs and which are coming due at an alarming rate.

Do you not understand this? Or do you conveniently ignore it so you don't have to think about it?

>> or socializing unemployment with so called unemployment insurance is equally bad.

FDR, when he created unemployment, made a deliberate statement that if Congress appropriated money to fund unemployment it would have been a failure. And that's precisely what they're now doing.

Unemployment as proposed was to have been self-funding out of a tax levied against employers. It has now been supplemented with a tax levied on the general population IN ADDITION to a tax levied on employers.

>> And what about medicare and medicaid?

Both are fiscal disasters -- consuming the financial future of the nation, growing without bound, destroying any hope for our kids and grandkids to have a decent standard of living in the United states.

>> And those police and firemen we rely on when we are in trouble. And what about the Socialist Army, Navy, Marines and AirForce? Come on Hugh--dont go INODE on us.

Only the Left has ever complained about money spent to make the country secure.
