I believed it was (and still do), and you argued that it wasn't. I think perhaps you are just more willing to provide someone the benefit of the doubt. I believe it is a good thing that there are those amongst us who see things that way. But I tend to be more black-and-white about it. Do you ever catch the A&E show "The First 48"? This is, to me, one of the best shows on TV and if you get a chance to watch it is well worth the time. Anyway, often, they'll have a murder committed by a person where 1-4 other persons were somehow complicit. Almost always, the entire group is charged with the murder -- frequently, "capital" murder -- even though their involvement may have been on the fringe. Which we all know is the law in most states. But I'm kind of that way about most things. If you had a hand in it, you're as guilty as the guiltiest person in the group. OTOH, I often feel in the First 48 some people are charged who really just got sucked into it. I guess they leave it for the courts to decide. Anyway, I'm pretty harsh in my rhetoric but when it comes down to the "punishment phase" I do believe extenuating circumstances or fringe involvement can be taken into consideration. In Obama's case, I just don't trust him. I'd be more convinced of the president's honesty if it were Richard Nixon than I am of Obama's. I should say, however, I find him likable and I'm sure he has been a great father for those two little girls. I just think his sense of honesty and commitment aren't in the same place as I am.
