CC, depends on the isotope used in the dirty bomb. Trust me just about any radioactive isotope is enough to kill you in a dirty bomb situation and make the area around the bomb uninhabitable for tens of thousands of years....do that in the middle of any major city, London, NY, LA....you get the picture....it is a very real threat....not Thermonuclear....but still nasty, very nasty.....
