Virtually all restaurants in Los Angeles have lower-priced specials now. So many empty tables drives that.

Grocers mail out coupons for $5 off $25 of groceries.

Inexpensive entertainment like the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena with an $8 entry fee, less for children, was very well attended last Sunday.

The trend I find annoying is the continued decline in inventory depth and breadth at all sorts of stores, which began almost two years ago and has now become much worse.

The traffic is beginning to diminish on streets and freeways. Not as easy to get around as it was after 9/11 but we'll get there.
