I wonder if that was sop for Bush? Never heard anyone complain that he'd hand picked who he would call on before conferences, but might have missed it. It seems like he did call on most reporters and took more questions too.

Evidently he picked these beforehand tonight:: Obama skips major papers: No NYT, WASHPOST, WSJ, USATODAY...

That will not improve his coverage in those papers.

And no CNBC, whose political reporter John Harwood said he was there and had a question but wasn't called on. A grudge thing against CNBC, whose Rick Santelli dared to be critical of the prez?
