Re: Experiences with Schwab

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in since I use Schwab

1. I agree with all of you that it is not worth $10 in commissions when you can get dicked 1/8 on the price you get filled at. However, do not think Schwab is above this on Nasdaq stocks. They too push their orders to specific market makers (they admit this). I have placed orders to sell in the past with limits, only to have a higher price trade and my order not get filled. So much for thinking Schwab is much different.

2. If you are trading options with Schwab, you have the power to negotiate commission rates. I have.

3. Their web site is sooooo slow, it has cost me money on trades before. When I have a stock trade, I go offline and use their Street Smart software. It is annoying, but it is much faster. The problem with options is that you may lose your discounts if you don't go on the web, depending on your arrangement with them.

4. Regarding commissions on stocks, if I am trading 3000 shares, the commission savings are significant vs. others. $90 for Eschwab, $15 for Ameritrade (I always use limit orders).

Anyone have any feedback on Ameritrade?

<I don't blame you, afterall " A penny saved is a penny earned " -:)>

Let's not forget about "Time, value, money" How much is that 1/8 really worth? Thought I would interject this for fun.
