I read my local paper to find out who has died or been arrested.

In NYC, the obits are the apartment hunting grounds. Murdoch picked up Lawrence Rockefeller's 44 million dollar apartment from the announcement of his death. Three floors, overlooking the central park zoo.

My Dad ran a benevolent insurance company, one where nobody pays until somebody dies and then everybody pays a $1.10. The buck goes to the beneficiary and the dime goes for operational expenses.

He used to read the obituaries every day, and if somebody died who was a member he cut them a check the same day.
