Ours weren't really bad...but we didn't like ANY of it. One of our kids someplace about 10 years old was out in the front yard playing with The Jones Boys that lived up the street.... All of a sudden, I heard someone yell "the big bad F word".... The only one in the yard was ...guess who. He looked so sheepish when I asked who said that...he fessed up right away. So on his way in, I was trying to decide what to do. I grew up in a family of all girls, and this was my first real test.

SO, I asked him why he said what he had, he told me, we talked for a minute about other things he could have said...then I said, I wasn't going to spank him, or anything like that. But I told him to go to the corner, to stand there for 1/2 hour, NOT touching the wall. I told him he could say that word all he wanted in the future, as long as it was in the corner, and that NO ONE ever heard him say it again.

I was easy...only made him stand there 20 minutes, but he was sure it was 2 hours. I have NEVER heard that word from him again, even as an adult.
In many ways, we hated it when they all left for college, knowing it was essential. They really were fun kids, most of the time, and especially from hindsight! <gg>
