Front page, business section of the St.Louis Post-Dispatch (10-26-97),
"Global Turmoil Shakes Investors-gold glitters as hedge against risk."
The article points to the sell-off in Hong Kong and then talks about
the dumping of gold by the central banks to pay for welfare programs
and to get in line with other governments' balance sheets ahead of
European unification.
"Effectively, they've been burning the furniture to keep their houses
warm." -John Geraghty.
Article states James Dines is bullish.
We know Peter Lynch likes it.
Lipper Analytical says total return for gold-oriented mutual funds
rose 1.3 percent in the latest quarter. This was the biggest since
a 23.6 percent rise in the first quarter of '96.
"St.Louis Post-Dispatch" is not "The Wall St. Journal", but
I thought it was interesting.

Let us try to fool those that do not know.

A fire assays is procedure where metals are fused with a flux in a
furnace.

Platinum and gold assays ALL start with this process with the exception of some direct chemical dissolution to ICP or neutron activation processes.

ALL reseachers who wish to do accurate precious metal determination
do a furnace fusion first..then a NA, ICP AA or gravity finish on the
residue.

These are the facts.
