This is what I referred to as IOU's. Semantics again. The gubbmint took the money, blew it, and replaced with a piece of paper they printed. Eventually, that paper will have to be sold to pay some retiree.

Bush referred to them as IOU's. Remember? Is Bush a moron too?

Bush: Social Security trust fund ‘just IOUs’

Bush was moronic for saying that.

These are not "just IOU's" these are US Treasuries, possibly the safest investment in the world.

And the majority of our debt is not held by SS.

Imagine if Bush had told the rest of the world who buy US Treasuries that what they held were just IOU's, pieces of paper in a drawer. What if he told the rest of the world they were in financial trouble if they were counting on redeeming their bonds?

It's a truly ridiculous argument that Bush was trying to make.

It's also not true that we have to raise taxes or cut spending/benefits when SS starts cashing in their notes. We can do what we always do, role the debt over...

The debt is a big deal. Our structural deficits are a big deal. But the portion held by SS is not.

LMAO.

You so totally haven't the slightest clue what you're talking about. I don't know which of you two is more confused.

Just put your head back up your ass. That's obviously the right place for it.

As to the other guy, maybe you two should get together and discuss finance sometime. I'm sure you guys can conquer's the world's financial problems in a few minutes.
