Tim, I don't know where you get your info specifically but it runs counter to most of what I learned going to school. I will say it is pretty consistent with what I am hearing from winger blogs and pundits. Apparently, the right is trying to redefine what is socialism and fascism in an effort to indict the current president. The fact that it doesn't apply doesn't seem to bother you all. So I don't know what to say. To have a reasonable discussion, both parties have to know what the rules are and have the same definitions for the words to be used in the discussion. The right seems very intent on changing those rules and definitions as it goes along. Thus, there can not be a fruitful discussion. Sorry.

Its a step towards government control of the economy.

No it isn't. It simply more of the same.

"the same" in this case being control of the economy, so "more of the same" is greater government control of the economy, or in other words "a step towards government control of the economy"

Gov't regulation, taxation, and spending all can and do exist under a capitalist economy.

Sure. I said "a step toward", not "a complete move to".

Cheney violated the Constitution

That's rather questionable unless you have a rather strict view of the constitution, in which case its probably violated by every modern president and congress.

The intent of socialism is to put full control of running a nation in the hands of its people.

That's often the nominal goal, but historically never the real goal of national level socialism.

linked to the GOP</> ... its persistent undertone of racism.

Nonsense. The most racist policies that currently have any noticeable amount of support are mostly supported by the Democrats.
