Kagara restarts production at Mt Garnet after flooding
27th March 2009, 9:00 WST

Kagara says it has recommenced production at its Mt Garnet polymetallic plant in Queensland after flooding forced road closures and hampered operations.

The company said ore transport on a restricted basis began last week to allow the build up of stockpiles in readiness for production.

“High grade ore from Mungana averaging 20 per cent zinc and 2 per cent copper will be blended with ore from Mt Garnet,” Kagara said.

“The processing of this high grade blend will offset some of the delayed zinc production resulting from the recent road closures.”

“Transport of copper ore to the Mt Garnet and Thalanga mills is continuing.

“The grade of copper ore being processed through the Mt Garnet plant is over 5 per cent which will also help recoup some of the delayed copper production in March.”

Kagara shares were up two cents, or 4.12 per cent, to 50.5 cents at 9am.
