That's just another of your rants...folks will need medical care and the expense can't be be eliminated even if one were to abolish Medicare.

At no time have I claimed we should abolish Medicare. Even if there were an approach to abolishing it, it could not be done politically.

But what CAN happen is stop adding to the problem, which is what Obama has done since he got there. And Bush, by caving to add Part D, made the problem worse as well. There simply isn't enough money to provide the best health care in the world free to a huge segment of the American public, let alone ALL of us.

We might find some way out of this mess IF we didn't keep adding to the problem. But Obama, if he has his way, will take a huge problem and blindly make it worse.

It is silly to talk about "solutions" in this thread. This problem is so complex that it probably cannot be solved even without political considerations. Add on the political issue and the trajectory for Medicare and SS is in place and cannot be changed. Anyone trying to discuss a subject seriously in this thread is literally wasting their time. If you want to do that, you would have to go somewhere else.

Just as an example, for SS Bush proposed a plan, probably the ONLY feasible plan, that would have moved it closer to solvency, and was shot down before he got out of the gate.

The most important thing we can do today is to try and keep more people from getting on the government dole. And Obama's massive spending plans are doing just that.
