Claude people can say anything and usually do-lol. Cigarette companies argued cigarettes did not cause lung cancer and were not addictive for decades.

A bunch of CEO's even swore it under oath to a senate committee.

The fact of the matter is that MOST of the top economists not only believe FDR was right and the New Deal was right, but that he waited too long to implement Keynes ideas.

And that is what is taught in most top notch universities. supplyside economis has been pretty well discreditied.

You are a very conservative person, so you lean to that side of the political spectrum. That is fine, we all have different ideas.

And that is the great thing about a democracy is it forces compromises between folks like you an I who see the world differently.

I am very liberal/progressive because over my lifetime, I feel the liberal ideas have been the better ideas and the more compassionate ideas, E.G. it was the liberals who fought agaisnt slavery and segregation, for the womens right to vote, and most recently agaisnt gay bashing.

In fact Bush's gay bashing probably won him Ohio and reelection in 2004. I feel gay bashign is exactly the same as racism.

I am a Keynsian. Most top notch economists are Keynsians. Keynes was a member of the English intelligensia and considered the equal to Einstein and Bertrand Russel in his thinking.

He accurately predicted what would happen to Germany when the world stripped it if everything after WWI and he predicted the great depression.

It has been my experience that conservatives and liberals see very different realities. And it is a huge problem because one side is probaly more correct than the other.

But all the more need for democracy which allows us to live together with a modicum of civilization

You do not want to live in a liberal world and I do not want to live in a conservative world. And we are not going to change each others minds, so we must compromise our ideas.

So how do we work that out?? Democracy seems to have done the best job so far.
