Don't you think the greed, corruption and power lust of the political/financial class gets in the way of reform that really matters?

As our standard of living goes down, the rest of the world goes up.

Never have I observed so many homeless people hanging around
public buildings such as libraries, etc.

We live in a democracy and can do whatever we want. The people ultimately have the power. But how do they use it, foolishly I would say.

Why do we keep voting in over 95% of incumbant congress people year after year if we do not like the congress? Big disconnect with reality there I would say.

Why do we not vote for public financing of campaigns. That is the ONLY way to get rid of the influnece of lobbyists. Dems have been trying to do it for decades and the republcians alwasy block it, but the PEOPLE keep vointg them back in to office anyway.

So all of the problems in congress essentially are our fault if you think about it. when anyone give over $5 to a campaign they expect soemthing in return. That is how it works!

Lobbyists literally write a lot of the legislation. Cheney had the oil CEO's in right after he took office and would not tell anyone who they were and what they were doing. My bet is that he had them write tax breaks which he pushed through the congress and the people yawned!

Another example, I was in politics for 30 years, including a run for the state legislature. Beat an incumbant two to one in the primary because I beat him in the debates, but I wouldn't take any PAC money or oil money.

The oil companies were really afraid I would win and put huge amounts of money into my opponents campaign and they even investigated/phoned my ex wife to try and get dirt on me.

We, the people are to blame for our situation and no one else.
