The only things that are going to truly solve the banking crisis are more effective regulations that are enforced, perhaps even outlawing mega-banks that can take down the system, and time. No quick fixes. They just need to put the regulations in place to prevent this from occurring again and give it time to sort itself out. Wall Street likes quick fixes, but in this case time is the best medicine. Over time the toxic assets will either gain more normalized values, be sold off or be written off.
