More and more intelligence is moving on to servers. Voice will change this (someone in an earlier post said it will take another 10 years? Don't you believe it, unless one means conversing intelligently with one's computer), and higher bandwidth internet stuff will affect it. Beyond that, I wonder if the MS monopoly isn't slowing innovation in some of the more routine apps -- everyone's focussing on the Internet or other more promising (commercially) areas, often not involing PCs.

So more and more silicon is going to be going into non-PC stuff -- I'd be willing to bet that the percentage of chip production going into PCs will drop in the future (if it isn't already), especially if one doesn't count NCs and their ilk as PCs.
