There are some pretty good investors who say that given the choice between a good business with bad management and bad business with great management, they would choose the former over the latter every time. Guess the question is: Does SGI have a good business? My sense from this thread and from techies in the valley is that their technology is very good. The popular press seems to think that SGI will be swamped by muscular PC's. Mebbe?

Its sort of interesting that Intel has preannounced the IA-64 with major issues unresolved. Could it be that they want the analysts to discuss this over gin and tonics, and create FUD for other system architectures while they try to figure out how to get all the software vendors to rewrite everything? Could be an opportunity if SGI can focus.

An neg opinion from a Boston area start-up? Let 'em eat DEC.
