Jeff, LRCX is the only company that said that sales were going to be flat. I have not heard any other company say that.

I am basing my opinion on the chip market conditions and not on what analysts or companies are saying. In late 1995 the market was starting to suspect a slowdown due to chip issues, but it wasn't until end of Q1 1996 that the semi companies started to announce slowdowns. And by that time alot of semi companies stocks had fallen 40 to 50%.

This time again we have not heard it from companies, but if there is a slowdown we will hear about it in the next quarter conf calls. The chip market issues seem worse this time around than they did last time. It seems the semi cap companies are the last to know when things are slowing down in their industry, since they are so far removed from the users of their end product.

At this point are the analysts ready to accept flat 1998 and keep the stock at current levels?? So far they don't trust any of the companies that have announced that they see no slowdown.
