I'm absolutely certain that many are.

No argument from me.

"I know a beer in the USA at a bar is $4.00. I know a better beer in Bulgaria is $.75."

That's one of the reasons I like the "Big Mac" index --- the price (in local currency) of a Big Mac all around the world.

It's a pretty effective way to gauge a currency's true buying power.
