Good point, and thanks for the clarification. I was considering only one aspect of the process, where an applicant called "B" cites prior art invented by "A" in order to show how and why "B" has a new and novel method.

But I also see your point that "B" might also have to rely on "A" to sell a product that uses "B."

Is there any more detail on the QCOM patent and how it differs from the ITT patent, or whether it differs from the ITT in enough respects to be considered novel and non obvious?
