It seems to me that Michael Gumport is "back peddling". His statement that never before has Intel's stock price been more dependent on how Intel's competition executes, is only in his mind, or in the mind of those that he tries to influence. It is a way for Michael to leave himself with an out. If Intel's stock price goes up, I am sure that he will say it was because Intel's competion didn't execute well (just like he said).

Michael forecasting AMD's or CYRX success, or inability to execute successfully, is what analysis of the semicinductor industry is all about.
