Well, the catch is probably going to be availability, i.e., someone there would have to want to find the right wines badly enough to spend time out here finding sources since a lot of the wines I deal with have limited volume going through any kind of distribution. I.e., one can buy it other places, but you can't count on the distributor showing up with samples.

The other problem with recommendations is the element of personal taste. E.g., it is one thing to say that I haven't had anything from Quivara in years that I thought was very interesting and I don't know anyone else who does either, but it is a different matter to know which other one you might like. E.g., the Cuvee Joanie SB from Swan is a wine that I would put up right at the top of best white wines of any type ever. But, its sold out anyway and it is a rich French style which might or might not fit your taste. Peterson is quite good for a modest price.

Syrah is worse ... there are so many different styles. I've had Texier from North Berkeley Imports in the past, but it has been a while. The central coast stuff is more classically french while up here is it more cut with a knife stuff.
