The Term "democrat/republican" only applies to voters, not those elected, it is a fallacy to believe otherwise- Once elected (and I use the term LOOSELY) by whichever/whatever mechanism- the officials immediately become creatures of Self Interest/preservation- [1-term] limits and no pensions and we might get some public service........eliminate the corporate oligarchs and their lobbyists

"I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss"

Trig, I could hardly wait to see the backside of Bush -- and I want Obama to do the right thing as badly as anybody in the world -- but I am not about to ignore the fact that he has set a course over a cliff instead of delivering the kind of change in direction of which we are in dire need. I love the guy - but on the little matter of HIS handling of the financial industry fiasco he is a tragic disappointment. He has very, very little time to set a new course -- and so far he seems incapable of doing so.

Don't bore me to death with your partisan politics -- I am only interested in getting as close as possible to the unvarnished truth -- and Obama is heading for a disastrous train wreck on the economy so long as he finds himself unable to confront the stark reality of finding himself in bed with the bankers and doing nothing about it, other than to try to roll over and go back to sleep.

I would say the problem started in 1971 and it has been masked by, not caused by the two party system. The other problem is that no one has cared that there was a problem until now.

Look at a long term chart of the purchasing power of the US dollar and note that the problem there starts in 1913. No one has even conceded that that is a problem yet. They soon will.

1913 and 1971 were important events in the repeal of the constitution. The primary purpose of the constitution was to minimize government meddling where it can only cause harm long term. Forgetting the lessons implicit in the constitution without even noticing it is our real problem. Not surprising really, the founding fathers predicted that it would happen.
