RE: Geithner plan.

Its not the fault of the hedge funds that the banks are on the ropes with their opaque, illiquid collateralized debt instruments.

Geithner is about the business of picking winners and losers. He is under pressure from the bank CEOs - who would like to keep their jobs - and the bank debtholders - who are trying to avoid a complete haircut - to make he taxpayers the bagholders. To the extent that he can bring the hedge funds to the waltz to present an appearance that what he is proposing isn't out and out rape, then the hedge funds can't be blamed.

Your mission - should you decide to accept is at least to try not to loose too much on the deal - probably by investing in the very hedge funds you so decry. After all - the upside is much better than the downside, and as a taxpayer, there is nothing but downside.
