There have been a few and I just went to the last one to meet a daughter who has made a proper study of such things and to have a bit of a listen. One item of interest was the difference between males and females in learning problems. Females are very particular about learning how to do something when watching the one who knows and do a very precise job of copying. Males are all over the map with wide variations. A simpleton would conclude that the males lack intelligence to copy well. But the lecturer explained [the obvious] that males don't identify with such problem solving and are far more interested in keeping track of females and estrus, other males, gang membership and adventurism in general. I suspect males also are more adventurous in trying techniques - they copy but try other methods too which normally fail. They use boss females in the experiments because males are prone to swing around in trees and kick the test equipment over instead of getting to work on the tasks at hand. Lower ranked chimps get bullied and have the equipment taken over by bosses. You can reasonably blame a lot on the human condition, but there's room enough to lay blame around the failed culture which produced the result. But don't be too smug because the feminine Asian culture where rote copying and compliance with social norms is a big deal, is the opposite of the wild cultural extremes of the masculine West where alpha males are kicking over the banks, beating up the opposition in Iraq [killing Saddam, Uday, Qusay and a lot more besides], getting away with the bonuses and Ponzi profits, printing up a storm of pixelated profits of control in the Federal Reserve and other masculine fun. The rote learning compliant feminine cultures can't produce the innovative successes, although the avoid the associated failures. It's ironic that the male dominated cultures [Islam, Asian] are actually feminine in innovative, copying and compliant learning and behaviour. But it's not all culture. There are genetic differences across groups, sub groups, sub sub groups down to families. So now you know! The answer is, yes, we are culturally and genetically different and we are ripping up trees, bashing in a few walls, knocking heads here and there and generally kicking up a commotion as chimpoid blokes do.
