Tommaso -- I completely agree -- He has a slim grasp of economics and is relying on precisely the wrong people to compensate for his own weakness in this area -- as you put it, "apparently nobody pointed out to Obama how disastrously wrong Geithner's views were of world financial developments". He has been far more proactive on the auto industry because it is so much easier to grasp the extent of the problem and act decisively -- bravo. But the finance industry is 100 times bigger and more complex -- and lets be honest, it is little wonder that he has shown himself to be entirely incapable of providing personal leadership in this area. What is so sad to see is that he has been unable to figure out who to help him out of this mess -- so far his choices are a disaster and reveal the potentially fatal weakness of his leadership. Unfortunately for the rest of us, what is fatal for him is not exactly good for us either.
