It's Real It's caused by man And it's BAD! My assertion is: It's real!: well, it depends on which part of the elephant you are examining....... The average temperature of the planet has increased in the past 300 years. And thank god that it did! However the increase, though dramatic, had a starting point that was about 3deg F lower than the norm. In 1998 we were about 1deg F above the norm. In 2008 we were about .3deg below the norm. As far as warming trends go, this one is about average. It's caused by man! As far as whether or not man caused the global warming, I doubt it, but I don't know. If CO2 levels are stated to be the cause, then I think that the causal relationship needs to be more clearly defined while at the same time showing that the solar cycles don't have a meaningful affect on our climate. As you pointed out, there is a pretty good case to be made that global warming causes increased CO2 levels. It's BAAAAD! Well, where humans and life in general are concerned, the warming trends are much better for us than the cooling trends. But my guess is that in the whole grand scheme of things, we need both cooling and warming trends to complete our climate cycle. So both cooling and warming are good in the grand scheme of things, even if cooling would generally make life rough on the planet for all living things. And warming would definitely be bad for all of the people in Malibu who have houses right on the water. But in general, global warming is good for life in general.
