Lot of misinformation being spread here on the voice recognition companies. Yes, it is, IMO, the next Killer App, driving the need for faster processors (including many locations other than PC's - e.g., autos) and especially, more DRAM. But the discussion of the players is WAY off! Kurzweil (KURZ) was bought by Lernout en Hauspie (LHSPF), which is the only publicly-traded "pure play" on voice recognition technology available (not counting some very small fish). LHSPF has a working relationship with MSFT, which holds a minority ownership position. It also is the only company of the three (Dragon - private - and IBM being the other two) which also does text-to-text (translation into different languages) and text-to-speech as well as speech-to-text ("voice recognition"), and has a very strong presence in Europe. The LHSPF thread is a good source of info on this company and its competitors. The FONX thread actually has the most posts in this category; this is a little company working with a neural networks approach to voice recognition.

Just wanted to clear up some misinformation on voice recognition and enjoying the discussion on AMAT's future, as usual!
