Not really. In some cases, to some extent, Citi and AIG come to mind, but not to the extent necessary to deal effectiverly with toxic assets. Otherwise, the government would have been able to deal directly with them rather than concoct the latest financial shock and awe plan.

The nationalization I think of as likely will be one in which government manages and directs the banks' essential transactions much as it did during the S&L crisis.
