I bet there are people who buy mutual funds through brokers and misconstrue the insurance on brokerage accounts as a guarantee against huge losses from a declining market, just as if it were FDIC insurance on a bank account.

Well, what do you think, Joe? Is the Day of Reckoning here?

I do wish, just for fun, to see the market shut down briefly by trading curbs to find out what effect that has.

Look forward to the day when common stocks are again a good investment.

Oh oh Joe, I can feel the euphoria coming over me!

Some time back you asked if there were any value stocks left and I mentioned Optima Petroleum, then at less than $1.50. Today a buyout proposal at $3.25. My largest holding of an individual stock. With the Dow dropping over 200 I get the news that my long is UP!

Is there such a thing as an over-the-counter depressant?
