Yes. I come from a strongly Democratic but open minded family. My Uncle was strongly Democratic but hated the Kennedys as do I. I was the first to vote Libertarian although my brother came in after me, later to vote for Bush which he bitterly regrets now.

I became a Libertarian after Lyndon Johnson convinced me the Democrats were no better than the Republicans. In those days I didn't know there was a Libertarian party. I became aware of the Libertarian Party after reading Karl Hess's interview in the July 1976 Playboy. I remember the date because they gave the honor to Hess.

July 1776 - July 1976 = 200th year anniversary

I registered Libertarian and began voting Libertarian at that point.

All my votes for Libertarians were symbolic and I knew that although I truly hoped that a groundswell would form eventually.

Unfortunately when Ron Paul was nominated over a black candidate I though was far better candidate I realized that the Libertarians would never gain a large enough share to be viable. The black candidate was a moderate and I believed along with the voucher argument could bring in large amounts of disaffected black voters. Unfortunately Paul got the nomination, as a gift for loyalty, the same way the major parties nominate their candidates.

I decided to vote against Bush by voting Democratic, because I thought he was the worst presidential candidate ever. He proved that handily.

Obama was not my first choice.

I really have no sympathy for the Libertarians. They've been shooting themselves in the feet to teach themselves how to dance for decades. Most people consider Libertarians to be kooks because of their INFLEXIBLE and extremists stances. Including me. I consider myself to be a moderate libertarian and continually modify my stance. I try to find some common ground with my moderate Republican and Democratic friends but at this point with extremists running the Libertarian party there is little point of converting anyone anymore in my lifetime.

I'm used to bitterly extremist Libertarians attacking me for having divergent views just like I'm used to religious extremists attacking me because I don't tow the line to their horse blinded visions.

Some idiots take all this too seriously. Nothing ever changes. We ARE Rome. Take your own advice and save yourself.
